Session
The Session is the governing council of Living Hope Presbyterian Church and is made up of the Pastor and elders in active service. Elders are chosen by the people.  The Session shall have responsibility for governing the congregation and guiding its witness to the sovereign activity of God in the world, so that the congregation is and becomes a community of faith, hope, love, and witness.  It is the duty of elders to strengthen and nurture the faith and life of the congregation.  They do so as they:

  • Provide that the Word of God may be truly preached and heard, responding to the promise of God’s new creation in Christ, and inviting all people to participate in that new creation;
  • Provide that the Sacraments may be rightly administered and received, welcoming those who are being engrafted into Christ, bearing witness to  Christ’s saving death and resurrection, anticipating the heavenly banquet that is to come, and committee itself in the present to solidarity with the marginalized and the hungry; and
  • Nurture a covenant community of disciples of Christ, living in the strength of God’s promise, and giving itself in service to God’s mission.

Deacons
The Deacons are responsible for organizing ways to minister to members of the congregation who are spiritually or physically in need. They visit hospitals and adult care homes, assist in serving communion to home-bound members, and keep in contact with members as assigned to them, The Board will meet monthly or as called by the chair and will provide written minutes to the Session, as well as meet with the Session at least yearly or with others when invited. “…For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is Christ Jesus.” 1 Timothy 3:13 KJV

Committees
The following are the operating committees of Living Hope Presbyterian Church.

Finance
The Finance Committee is a standing committee of Session responsible for the financial concerns of the Church.  The Committee will monitor, direct, and authorize actions of the Treasurer and the Administrative Assistant regarding the financial and business needs of the church.

Mission
We are a mission focused congregation committed to the work of our Lord through active and hands-on mission projects.  We celebrate God’s activity in the projects we undertake as we gather to work in the name of Jesus Christ. The Mission Committee is a standing committee of Session responsible for educating the congregation about the resources available and peoples’ needs, to challenge them to respond, and to support them in their efforts to reach out into the community and beyond, to minister to the spiritual and physical needs of God’s people.

Worship
The Worship Committee works with the pastor to ensure scriptural guidance for worship, the heritage of the Presbyterian Church and the needs and particular circumstances of the congregation. Members are invited to serve by the Chair of the Committee, generally an elder.

Christian Education
Our mission is to provide opportunities for study of the Bible and Christian issues for all ages of our church family.  Areas to serve in our Christian Education ministry include:  teacher,  persons to prepare snacks for Sunday School, Sunday School helpers, CE committee member, etc.

Nominating
The Nominating committee is elected by the congregation to select and recruit members of the congregation for leadership roles of Elder and Deacon as vacancies occur.  It also nominates qualified Auditors to complete the annual financial audit of church books, and selects an initial slate of members to serve the next Nominating committee.  The Nominating Committee is responsible to the congregation.
